Building knowledge and guiding the process to ensure successful HIT systems

Adopting new technology is always a challenge, one that you want to result in reward not undo frustration and expense.

The investment is substantial. Health information technology (HIT) is a substantial investment: the software; the infrastructure; and the time to understand your facility requirements, investigate the multitude of software options, select one, and launch the new system. With that kind of investment, you want to do everything you can to ensure success.

The risk is real. The US Department of Health and Human Services estimates the failure rate for electronic health record (EHR) systems implementation exceeds 30 percent. That figure only encompasses those facilities that have de-installed their HIT. Add to those the facilities that do not like their HIT system or are not using all the capabilities to obtain their desired level of efficiency and the percentage of failures increases dramatically.

Increase your likelihood of successful EHR implementation. Having an experienced, unbiased consultant build your knowledge and guide your HIT adoption process can help ensure its success—making your clinic more efficient and improving patient care and safety.

Let Stratis Health guide your HIT adoption

Stratis Health can work with you to clarify your HIT needs. We understand health care. We approach all of our work from a quality and patient safety perspective, with a focus on achieving sustainable change.

We work with our HIT clients to support clinical and organizational change. Our technical assistance and resources are designed to empower our clients to truly understand content and processes so they are set up to successfully continue on the improvement path.

As your consultant Stratis Health can assist you with:

  • Finding appropriate resources
  • Redesigning workflow after implementation, including process mapping
  • Embedding evidence-based guidelines into your electronic templates
  • Identifying and eliminating internal cultural barriers to success

  • Facilitating chart conversion

Stratis Health has extensive experience working with health care practices and systems to prepare for and adopt EHR systems. Our HIT consulting services build on our experience leading the national Doctor's Office Quality – Information Technology (DOQ-IT) Program, sponsored by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. We have HIT experience working with:

  • All settings of care, with an emphasis on physician practices, ambulatory clinics, and critical access hospitals
  • Clinic-hospital networks / hospital systems

Stratis Health’s process is based on principles of change management, as well as the cumulative experience of hundreds of small- to medium-sized practices around the country that have made the move to an EHR system. By building knowledge and skills, we empower health care practices to continue successfully managing their HIT operations.

Contact us to discuss our HIT consulting services, which use our seven-phase change management process, to enable you to take full advantage of all of the tools in your EHR system. The seven stages are:

  1. Assess
  2. Plan
  3. Select
  4. Implement
  5. Utilize
  6. Maintain
  7. Improve

Depending on where you are in the process of selecting and implementing an HIT system, Stratis Health can help you assess, select, implement, and fully utilize EHRs. Our process is scalable to your operation and where it is at in the continuum of adopting and improving its EHR.
