Sherilyn Moe, Ombudsman Specialist with the Office of Ombudsman for Long-Term Care at the Minnesota Board on Aging, was elected as chair of the Stratis Health Community Outreach Committee.
The Community Outreach Committee has helped encourage the flow of information among Medicare beneficiaries, community and senior advocacy organizations, and government, since 1982. The committee provides direction and guidance to the outreach activities of Stratis Health as the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Minnesota. It makes recommendations regarding the design, development, and the implementation of the Medicare beneficiary outreach program; provides for the dissemination of accurate information to beneficiaries; identifies beneficiary issues and concerns; and helps resolve beneficiary issues and makes recommendations for change, as appropriate.
Moe has an extensive background in long-term care, working in home and community services since 1975. As Ombudsman Specialist, her responsibilities include technical assistance about home care and housing, consumer resource development and management, ombudsman and volunteer training, and statewide volunteer program management. She has worked at Catholic Eldercare Inc. in Minneapolis as Director of Community Services. Moe graduated from the University of Minnesota, with a BA degree. She is a licensed social worker. She has served on state policy workgroups relating to home care and hospice licensure, housing with services and assisted living and has been a member of Stratis Health Community Outreach Committee and Stratis Health Nursing Home and Home Health Stakeholders Group for several years. She also serves on the board of the Minnesota Association for Guardianship and Conservatorship.
“Sherilyn is committed to improving long-term care for Medicare beneficiaries and all seniors. She has been an asset as a member of our Community Outreach Committee. We are delighted that she has stepped into this leadership role as the committee chair,” said Jennifer Lundblad, PhD, MBA, president and CEO, Stratis Health.
Dan Mikel, out-going chair, served from 2006 to 2008. He represented both Medicare beneficiaries and the AFL-CIO Retirees Council.
Stratis Health is a non-profit organization founded in 1971 that leads collaboration and innovation in health care quality and safety, and serves as a trusted expert in facilitating improvement for people and communities.
