Stratis Health Elects New Board of Directors Members

Huda Farah, Lucinda Jesson, and Michael Spilane, have been elected to the Board of Directors of Stratis Health, a Bloomington-based nonprofit organization that leads collaboration and innovation in health care quality and safety, and serves as a trusted expert in facilitating improvement for people and communities.

“Our new board members bring an incredibly deep and diverse portfolio of experience in health care,” said Jennifer Lundblad, PhD, MBA, president and CEO, Stratis Health. “Their voices on the board will help Stratis Health maintain its strong role in shaping health care quality improvement and patient safety, and achieving improvement across health care settings and services.”

Huda Farah is a researcher in public health, educator, cultural competency trainer, mentor, coach and a leader in public health and early childhood education. She has produced many educational videos and host/producer of TV and radio shows. She has a passion for giving back to her home country Somalia with emphasis on education and maternity and child health issues.

Lucinda Jesson is an associate professor of law at Hamline University School of Law and director of its new Health Law Institute. Previously in private practice, Jesson represented hospitals, clinics and health care professionals. She also served as a frequent arbitrator and hearing officer in health care disputes.

Michael Spilane is co-head of the Division of Geriatrics in the HealthPartners Medical Group, and is head of the Division of Geriatrics in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He has practiced geriatric medicine for more than three decades and helped lead the development of one of the nation’s largest programs in clinical geriatrics.

Their terms of service run 2009 through 2012. The Stratis Health Board of Directors has 13 members. The new members replace outgoing board members Susan Crutchfield, John Kleinman, and Barbara LeTourneau.
