Jennifer Lundblad, PhD, MBA, president and CEO of Stratis Health, was recently elected to serve as president elect of the American Health Quality Association (AHQA). AHQA is an educational, nonprofit national membership association dedicated to promoting and facilitating fundamental change that improves the quality of health care in America. AHQA represents a national network of community-based Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) and other professionals working to improve health care and patient safety.

At the AHQA Annual Meeting in Baltimore this month, Dr. Lundblad was elected by the AHQA membership to serve as a presidential officer. She will serve as president elect, president, and then as immediate past president, holding each position for one year. Her term begins immediately and will end in May 2013. She has served on the AHQA board since February 2007.

"This is an exciting time to be leading AHQA. With health reform immediately in front of us, AHQA has the opportunity to help shape the future of patient safety and quality improvement in this country based on the collective insights and expertise of AHQA members across the country," said Lundblad.

Dr. Lundblad has served as CEO of Stratis Health, Minnesota's QIO, since August 2006 and has been in leadership capacity at the organization since 1998. She adds these AHQA duties to several current health leadership roles, including as a member of the national Rural Policy and Research Institute (RURPI) Health Panel, co-chair of the Minnesota E-Health Advisory Committee, and chair elect of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance Steering Committee. She also serves on the Board for MN Community Measurement.
