Stratis Health’s Dr. Pederson Selected to Serve on CMS Technical Expert Panel on IMPACT Act Quality Measures

Published Monday, September 19, 2016

Jane C. Pederson, MD, MS, chief medical quality officer, Stratis Health, was selected to serve on a national Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Technical Expert Panel (TEP) on quality measures to help achieve the goals of the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (IMPACT Act).

Through the use of standardized quality measures and standardized data, the primary intent of the IMPACT Act is to enable interoperability and access to information for providers to facilitate coordinated care, improved Medicare beneficiary outcomes, and overall quality comparisons.

The TEP will provide input on the development of these standardized cross-setting quality measures for use in post-acute care settings such as skilled nursing facilities, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, long-term care hospitals, and home health agencies. It also will deliver feedback on aspects of the measures, such as the measure construct and proposed measure specifications.

Dr. Pederson brings to the TEP her deep expertise practicing as a geriatrician in post-acute care settings, 20 years of CMS Quality Improvement Organization experience, training in health services research, and experience teaching graduate level health care quality and measurement.
