Stratis Health Elects David Satin, MD, to Board of Directors

Family physician and pay-for-performance incentive program researcher

David Satin, MD, has been elected to the board of directors of Stratis Health, a Bloomington-based nonprofit organization that leads collaboration and innovation in health care quality and safety, and serves as a trusted expert in facilitating improvement for people and communities.

Dr. Satin is assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He leads the quality improvement and patient safety curriculum and is director of courses on ethics, law, policy, finance and structure for the Medical School. Satin sits on several American Medical Association (AMA) workgroups designing performance measures for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS), and is a national speaker on risk management in health systems. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota Center for Bioethics and researches ethical issues in performance-based quality improvement incentive programs.

He practices as a family physician at Smiley's Clinic in Minneapolis and rounds with the family medicine inpatient service at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Satin's three-year term of service runs January 2017 through December 2019. The Stratis Health Board of Directors has 15 members, and includes diverse representation of physician and nurse leadership, health system and health plan leadership, business sector expertise, academic and research representation, and consumer perspectives. He replaces outgoing board member Kathy Brooks, MD, who completes nine years of board service at the end of 2016.
